Do you want your illustrations to become part of the feminist demands from the region? Then read along!

Together with the UN Women Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia, we at WECF will be hosting a series of online consultations on Beijing+25, from October until March 2021. . Together with local feminists and human rights activists, we will be exploring what still needs to happen to achieve gender equality in the Balkans, Caucasus, Central Asia, Eastern and Central European regions? What are we looking for?

We want to use illustrations to show the demands from the region. After every virtual consultation, a brief with recommendations will be published. Your illustrations will be the visual representation of the key demands outlined in the policy brief. Our audience includes the general public, decision-makers and those engaged in the global Generation Equality agenda on Instagram and Twitter.

We are looking for a fierce feminist illustrator to deliver approximately 5 illustrations per consultation. We will plan 9 consultations between October 2020 and March 2021. The first illustrations will be expected in the third week of October. Not all deadlines are fixed yet as the preparations are in process now, so some flexibility is needed. The  graphical style should show people from the region in their diversity, it should feel powerful and engaging. Each graphic can be simple with a person or several in action, with a demand written in the background.

We are looking for someone from or based in the region, being fluent in both English and Russian is a large benefit.

How to apply?

Please send an email to sanne.vandevoort[at]wecf.org and hanna.gunnarsson[at]wecf.org, labelled “Feminist Illustrator Virtual Consultations”. Include your motivation, some examples of your work, or a link to your instagram or portfolio, and a quotation with your expected prices.

Deadline to send your quotation is Monday, 28 September 2020, at 23:59 CEST, but we are looking to hire someone before that, so the earlier you send in your application, the better.  Please help us spread the message if you are not an artist yourself – forward this message to your design friends. Also note that we only accept applications from people who are from or based in the regions listed above.
